That we do. I sent the following letter to my elected official (Congress) in February:
I voted for you in the last few elections and appreciate your general level headedness. Balancing traditional conservatism with MAGA populism and its irreverence of reality must be quite the challenge.I am writing in regard to the absurd report that nearly 1.9 million federal employees received an e-mail Saturday afternoon with instructions to report what they did in the past week by Monday evening or be fired. There is no credible management theory that supports such a screen for eliminating unnecessary jobs.It's clear Elon Musk's six companies have no need for his onsite supervision. His boards of directors must have no expectations. Any work he is doing for those companies and DOGE is not all onsite, thereby he is telecommuting. I imagine you telecommute at times in your role as a Congressman.The quality of savings produced thus far is rather shaky. Musk would eviscerate any leaders from his six companies that presented him that shoddy level of analysis.I find Musk's demand absurd and unanchored from any sound management/leadership theory. It's a horrible look for our country, having a petulant South African excoriate our federal government.I recognize you are in a difficult space. I worked for a CEO with similar predilections as President Trump. Subservience and loyalty are all that are allowed. Independent thinking for the good of the organization (or country) are not allowed and usually met with ridicule, shunning and derision from the CEO/Trump and his ring of enforcers.Leadership is why you are there. I hope you find a way to exercise some on behalf of all your constituents, traditional conservatives, the MAGA "base", liberals and independents.
An intervention is needed. Anything public would not be tolerated and I have no desire to endanger anyone's political future. The longer reasonable members of Congress and the Supreme Court wait, the harder it will become.
Trump the Usurper will continue to envelop and incorporate anything valuable in his path along with quick detours to consume his political enemies.
One day our grandchildren's children will learn the stories of how the monster ate a whole democratic country and usurped its economy solely for his image needs and pocketbook demands.
