Texas Worst for Mental Health Care

Texas Governor Greg Abbott had seven mass shootings occur under his watch.  Abbott frames such massacres under "mental health" as no one in their right mind would do such a thing.  Abbott says the state is working to address the underlying anger and violence.

The governor has much work to do as Texas is last in the country for mental health.

A recent study has ranked Texas as the worst state for mental healthcare in the U.S. and claimed the state has the highest percentage of uninsured adults with mental illness.
98% of Texas’ 254 counties were wholly or partially designated by the federal government as “mental health professional shortage areas.”

The process of killing others is greatly aided by weapons of war that grossly disfigure victims.  An angry person can kill how many people with their bare fists two minutes?  How many can they kill in the same time frame with a knife?  And how many people can they exterminate with a semi-automatic weapon of war in 120 seconds?

Texas, first in weapons of war, last in mental health.  That's a lethal combination.

Update 5-19-23:  HuffPo noticed as well:

Update 5-23-23:  ConchoValleyHomepage picked up the story about 98% of Texas counties having mental health professional shortages.

Update 8-24-23:  The state of Texas is heartless in other ways:

A new whistleblower complaint obtained by Nexstar claims technical glitches and disorganized leadership have caused issues in Texas’ administration of Medicaid and erroneously kicked thousands of children and pregnant women off of their health insurance.

The employees say many of them are now seeking other careers or protection under the Whistleblower Act.

“The environment is toxic, and we are in a constant state of fear,” they wrote.
