Torture Justice May Come from Spain, Not U.S.

The country that prosecuted Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet may have Alberto Gonzales in its sights. Spain has jurisdiction as five Spanish citizens were held in Guantanamo Bay. The investigation specifically names:

1. Alberto Gonzales, Attorney General

2. John Yoo, the former Justice Department lawyer who wrote secret legal opinions saying the president had the authority to circumvent the Geneva Conventions

3. Douglas Feith, the former undersecretary of defense for policy

4. William Haynes II, former general counsel for the Department of Defense

5. Jay Bybee, Yoo's former boss at the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel

6. David Addington, chief of staff and legal adviser to ex-Vice President Dick Cheney

Why not President George W. Bush or Vice President Richard P. Cheney? The pair all but confessed to their role in torture.
